Newsletters01.04.2012 | Alumni Assistants at American Corners, March 2012 ReportMarch 2012 was a truly busy month for Alumni Assistants as they managed to put together a great number of conferences, meetings and round tables. As one the key features of this period, one can note events in “alumni-to-alumni” format. It means that Alumni Assistants brought together alumni of various exchange programs who agreed not only to share their experience but also to educate their fellow alumni. This cooperation resulted in highly demanded and well regarded training sessions and lectures which really unite the alumni community.
Information about CityCreated as a military settlement in 985, Bryansk was part of Lithuania until the 16th century. The city produced weapons for the Russian army beginning in the late 18th century, later becoming an important textile and metallurgical center. Today, the city has developed significant steel and machinery industries, producing trains for the Russian railway. With a population of 450,000, Bryansk houses four universities, three theatres, 10 museums and a technical academy.

On the 15th of May Steven Mackey, the Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, visited AC in Bryansk regional scientific universal library n.a. F.I. Tyutchev.
Within the bounds of the visit Mr. Mackey met with professors and students of Bryansk universities, schoolchildren from the Gymnasium #1 and alumni.
