The fantasy writer Davidson L. Haworth from California made his second appearance at the American Center. He performed his entertaining lecture in the tradition of American stand up on the 5th of May. Haworth is the author of books such as «The Dragon of Prali» and «The Wizard of Prali». The third book of trilogy «The Vampire of Prali» is being written now and, according to the writer, one of the characters of that book is Russian.
On the 4th of May Mia Grosjean, granddaughter of Joseph Edward Davies who was the second U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union, visited the American Center in Moscow once again and gave a fascinating lecture on her exhibit of wonderful photographs taken by her mother, Emlen Knight Davies, in the late 1930s. It should be noted that photography was prohibited in the USSR at that time.
There were 12 children present at Children`s Club meeting on April 28. This meeting was devoted to the Earth Day and the topic of it was Life in the Forest. American Center was turned in to a big green forest clearing. Children learned what to do in case they found themselves lost in the forest, learned how to use compass and where to find water. They packed useful things in the bag and set up a big tent.
