On March 3, we talked about a variety of topics, but mainly focused on the cinema. The Conversation Club regulars shared their ideas about what makes a good movie for them, and what it takes to become an excellent actor. They illustrated their opinions with examples of movies they particularly liked. While Justin was at a loss to say what his favorite movie was, Anne said that hers was unquestionably "Galdiator". |

On March 3, Jim Butterfield, Professor of Political Science from Western Michigan University, was invited as a guest speaker to this month's Saratov English Language Teachers Association meeting to share his professional expertise. |

On March 2, Jordan McGuire hosted a lively discussion about current affairs and some complex political and social issues. After a few participants presented news articles they had prepared for that day, we talked about school bullying, death penalty versus life imprisonment, and Internet censorship. Everyone had a chance to express their opinion and explore each other's viewpoints about the issues raised. |

On February 24, we couldn't but talk about Defender of the Fatherland Day that all Russians celabrated the day before. Everyone talked about how they usually celebrate it and shared their ideas about how best to choose a present. Then Justin and Anne told us about Veterans Day, an American holiday celebrated annually on November 11, that honors military veterans. At the end of the meeting, our American friends told us about traditions of celebrating New Year and Halloween. |
