Vologda – On February 25, American Corner in Vologda received honorable guests from the US Consulate in Saint – Petersburg: Sheila Gwaltney, Consul General of the USA; Peter Malecha, Political and Economic Affairs Officer; Aleksey Gorodetskiy, Economic Assistant, and Vera Savko, Public Affairs Assistant. 20 American programs alumni came to the AC to meet the Consular delegation and have a round table discussion. The participants shared the benefits of their American experience for their professional and personal growth and breaking stereotypes.

Vologda - On February 11, 2009 AC in Vologda hosted an event devoted to the Library Lovers’ Month. Together with an English teacher Victoria Maslova we arranged a workshop for 11-graders from secondary school № 30.
AC coordinator provided a tour of Vologda Regional Library for the students and told them about the AC and its recourses. Then the visitors discussed the role of dictionaries in reading literature in foreign languages.A Power Point Presentation on various dictionaries was shown to the English learners. |

More than 20 people of different ages gathered at the American Corner to celebrate Halloween. Among them there were two American teachers Rachael Nicols and Carolina Perez. The host of the party "Captain Frank Right" welcomed the guests on the board of his "Adventure" boat. The guests learned about the origin of the holiday, solved a Halloween quiz and a crossword, sang a "Pumpkin song, competed in the Best Costume contest. But the most thrilling were The Future Telling and Visiting the Cave of Old Dead Joe. |
