17.03.2012 | Fulbright alumnus presents his exhibition of models of future Vologda urban environment
The young architects from the group “AVO” (one of the leaders of the group is Vera Smirnova, who was recently chosen for participation in Fulbright program and will be studying architecture at the American University during two years) proposed absolutely new approach to city environment formation in Vologda. They are going to transform some spots of the city from gloomy and unattractive into comfortable and cozy zones of recreation and communication. Unusual constructions which are to harmonize the city center will be made from wood – the material which is traditional for the Russian North.
-We chose five spots, - told Vera Smirnova, a Fulbright graduate student, at the opening of the exhibition, - For each of them we created an individual scenario and image. We received the significant support from the Vologda administration and are going to carry out all five projects within the framework of the festival “Days of architecture in Vologda – 2012” in summer.
This project is entitled “Activation” which shows its future impact on Vologda city life.
