Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the rate of human trafficking both out of and within the CIS has risen significantly. The destinations of victims are varied, but their experiences are often the same: forced prostitution, slave labor, violence and debt bondage. Please join me for a talk on the current situation of "modern day slavery" in the former Soviet countries. Lauren McCarthy is a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin. |

Topics will range from classical music to jazz and popular forms. The focus of the event is to answer questions by the audience while also presenting and performing new works by American composers. |
