American Center presents an elective course on modern American fiction and poetry from 1960-present day.
The course will be conducted by Ross Ufberg who was born and raised in Scranton PA, and has studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, Hamiton College, in New York State, Smolny College in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Yale University in Connecticut. In addition, he spent several months working with the Estate of Joseph Brodsky, the Nobel-Prize winning Russian-American poet, in 2007. \r |

On Tuesday, September 18th, from 15:00-16:00, The American Center invites everybody to meet and speak with “The Friendship Force,” a group of Americans traveling around Russia as part of a people-to-people exchange. This will be a unique opportunity to talk with native speakers about their experiences in Russia and America.

On Thursday, September 20th, at 15:00, the American Center will show the classic American film “Sterile Cuckoo,” starring Liza Minnelli, in a story about love and insanity on an American college campus.
An Oscar-nominated performance by Liza Minnelli and an excellent straight-man role by Wendell Burton brings warmth and substance to this off-beat tale of awakening love. A\r |

On Monday, September 17th, at 15:00, the American Center will be showing the much-heralded documentary “Lewis and Clark,”about the adventurous origins of the American West which will be followed by a round-table dicussion with a native speaker. \r |
