The All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “International activity of libraries as a resource of economic attractiveness of regions of Russia” is going to be held in Omsk State Scientific Library named after A.S. Pushkin on October 13-16, 2008.
Organizers of the Conference are:
- Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography
- Russian State Library
- Russian Library Association (sectors of international activity, public libraries, main libraries of constituent units of the Russian Federation)
- Omsk State Scientific Library named after A.S. Pushkin
Purpose of the Conference: development of informational basis, as well as organizational and methodological basis to create the culture of international and interethnic communication on the basis of Russian libraries.
The following people can take part in the Conference:
• Representatives of Russian libraries (regardless of their department participation) where there are departments-funds owners of documents in foreign languages and who are aimed to develop international and interethnic relations
• Directors and deputy-directors of libraries, heads of departments of Russian libraries, as well as libraries of CIS and non-CIS countries
Within the framework of the Conference different public events are being planned to be held: round tables for discussing problems, master-classes, trainings and other public events on the following directions:
• Realization of international projects in Russian libraries: problems and perspectives
• Application of consistency principle in the sphere of international and interethnic relations development within the framework of libraries activity
• Library service for multicultural population
• International book exchange: problems and perspectives
• Problems of acquisition with literature in foreign languages
• Search for new information resources in foreign languages and systematization of available ones, international resources of non-budgetary financing , work on attraction new financial resources
• Problems of scientific processing of literature in foreign languages
• Criteria of estimation of the quality of libraries activity in the sphere of international and interethnic cooperation
