Experimental learning with Senior English Language Fellow John Silver was of a great success among USG alumni and Volgograd AC patrons on Saturday noon! This is a second time when John comes to Volgograd with his presentation.
John Silver has been teaching English and training teachers for 15 years in America, the Former Soviet Union and Asia. He is currently working at the Institute of Management, Business and Law in Rostov-on-Don. John also works closely with the U.S. Embassy’s English Language Office to develop teacher training programs in the region. A graduate of the School for International Training in Vermont, John is an enthusiastic adherent of Experiential Learning. He especially enjoys teaching fun Communicative Language activities for speaking and listening.
This time John’s presentation "Communicative English Language Teaching Activities" was of great success among the participants. All of them feel comfortable talking and expressing their ideas in the English language, playing “Marshrutka Mayhem” game or drawing pictures on their neighbors backs. There were lots of fun and excitement.

According to the agreement signed the American center is a part of the Oblast Scientific Library in Volgograd. That’s why we couldn’t stay away from the celebrations of the Library Day!
This was an outdoor event being held on the Library staircases.
The main idea was to attract or just give an idea that there’s an American center that promotes American culture and education in Volgograd!
And what could be better instrument for the realization of this outdoor project than an American center Mascot?
This Mascot was actually a gift from our Community Connections Alumnae – Radmila Michailovskaya who created and produced this wonderful cow with her own hands.
