03.05.2012 | Smart casino game “Are you an expert on the USA”

On the 3rd of May the American corner hosted the Smart casino game “Are you an expert on the USA”.
The idea of this intellectual game originated from popular Russian TV-show “What? Where? When?” In our smart casino game venturesome spirit, teamwork, logical skills and certainly knowledge of the U.S. culture and history are valued.

27.04.2012 | American Culture Festival “Open USA – 2012”

American Culture Festival "Open USA - 2012" took place in the Arkhangelsk Regional Children's Library.

More than 15 school groups participated in the festival. The best performances were presented in final concert on the 27th of April, 2012. The festival was held in three categories: “Great American Tales and Stories”, “Outstanding Americans” and “Only in America”.

22.04.2012 | American weeks in Arkhangelsk – 2012

American weeks in Arkhangelsk were held from the 26th of March to the 22nd of April.
In the frames of this project the following events were organized :
1. Drawing competition “American plants” for young artists;
2. Gathering of teams "Green Patrol". As the parts of the "Green Patrol" event were the “"Environmental lotto", for which the participants prepared presentations about the U.S. flora and fauna, and blitz-tournament “The Natural zones of the US and Arkhangelsk region: differences and similarities”;
3. Methodological lesson competition “One hundred friends” for English teachers,
4. Web-page contest for school web-sites, dedicated to American weeks in Arkhangelsk
5. Students' Conference on American Studies: “East – West: the dialog of civilizations”
6. American Culture Festival “Open USA 2012” and many other events.

11.04.2012 | Kindle e-readers are available in American Centers and Corners!

The U.S. Embassy in Moscow provided Kindle E-Readers to American Centers and Corners in Russia! You may use these Kindles in the American Center to enjoy free access to dozens of English-language fiction and non-fiction covering topics such as U.S. business, history, culture, and education.

03.04.2012 | Meeting with guests from Portland

On the 3rd of April AC Arkhangelsk organized the meeting with Edward Suslovick, ex-mayor of Portland and Kevin Roche, general manager of Ecomaine company in Portland.
