On January 6, 2012 different patrons of the American Corner, and many more of those interested in English language and American culture gathered at the Perm krai Gorky Library to celebrate winter holidays.

The fourth Thursday of November is traditionally celebrated as the Thanksgiving Day – one of the most favorite American holidays, traditionally a harvest festival and then a family holiday dating back as far as 1621. The friends and guests of the American Corner gathered together on this special occasion.

On October 17 Ms. Aliza Sherman a famous e-media entrepreneur, author, women's issues activist, and international speaker paid a visit to the American Corner and Regional Library audience in Perm. Her presentation “Crowdsourcing for the Better City” evoked sincere interest and questions among the young audience, proving that modern technologies remain the means of WHAT we say, and forms to shape our MESSAGE.

26.09.2011 | The Book Club at the American Corner in Perm: Discovering the Amazing World of Characters of Shel Silverstein

One of the most successful projects of the American Corner in Perm is the Book Club, aimed at deeper observation of the rich literary heritage of the United States and text analysis, including those works by contemporary authors. Our last meeting was dedicated to the works of Shel Silverstein (1930-1999). Silverstein's characters – four-year-old cowboys and adolescent geezers; snobby "rockers" and robotic housewives, restaurant critics and voracious "regulars" of the zoo - open the wondrous world of songs, comic sketches and cartoons loved by generations of Americans!
