The American Center in Moscow organized a competition for young readers: “Sizzling Reading Challenge.” Any child from the ages of 5 to 14, from Moscow or Moscow region, was eligible to participate. Participants had time from July 21st to November 30th to read as many English-language books as possible, and the American Center promised that every child who read ten and more books would receive an American prize. AMC received 56 forms from children and teens.

On December 24 the American Center invited all participants of the reading challenge contest to an award ceremony and a small reception. Most of participants have read 10 and more books, but one 7 year-old girl has read 72 books herself and with her mother!

The goal of the contest was to involve children into reading as well as to get them acquainted with AMC collection of American writers. Everybody received a Young Reader diploma and was happy to attend the event!
