28.11.2011 | Thanksgiving Greetings for Our Volunteers-2011
The fourth Thursday of November is traditionally celebrated as the Thanksgiving Day – one of the most favorite American holidays, traditionally a harvest festival and then a family holiday dating back as far as 1621. The friends and guests of the American Corner gathered together on this special occasion.
Here are the most heartful words of congratulation and gratitude caught in our American Corner's mail box:
Dear Brad, Janet, Elizabeth, David and Robert!
I congratulate you on the occasion of your national holiday-Thanksgiving Day.
I would like to give my thanks to you. You have done a great job telling us many interesting things about your country, about your culture, famous people.
One clever man said: If you know one language you know one country, if you know two languages you know two countries. I would say: If you know English you will know as many countries as you like, because English has become an internet language that helps people all over the world
to communicate and understand each other.
Best regards
Rashid Usmanov
Our dear friends,
Robert, Elizabeth, Brad, Janet and David!
We love you so much!
We find it easy to ask for favors but difficult to thank.
On this day we traditionally give thanks to God
for blessings and everything he gave us.
And this Thanksgiving is very special as it gives us
more reasons to thank all of you, our dearest friends,
for that enormous work you do as volunteers!
Happy Thanksgiving!
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving party
Be wonderful, warm and nice!
We really enjoy spending time with you!
May God bless you,
Julya Plotnikova and Nikolai Ikonenko
