On December 7th American Corner with Institute of developing education in Sakhalin region held a meeting for English teachers of regional schools.
More than 25 participants of the seminar took part in the excursion through library departments, most of them had not been there for many years and with surprise noted great changes in service for users – electronic orders, open funds, free internet. The Coordinator of the Corner Pyatniskaya Olga showed the audience the activity of the American Corner, its book funds, electronic resources, exchange programs. Her assistant Sorokina Anna reviewed DVD resources, books for TOEFL preparing, encyclopedias (Britannica, Children’s Britannica, Americana, Scholastic Encyclopedia of the Presidents and their Times, etc.), different periodical publications (English Teaching Forum, Speak out, School English, Newsweek, National Geographic), multimedia educational complexes of DeltaPublishing and showed modern electronic books (e-readers). There were prepared take-away informational packets which could be used at their every day work.
