On December 16th Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk American Corner welcomed Consul of U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok Edward W. Soltow, accompanied by Jim Meitner, U.S. Consular Agent-Sakhalin.
More than 25 people came to learn about types of Visas (Non-Immigrant and Immigrant Visas, Summer Work & Travel), necessary documents and procedure for obtaining visas, educational programs (exchange and cooperation programs). Diversity of information was impressive, and depending on personal goals everybody could choose this own direction. Of course Consul mentioned about dangers that could happen with foreigners in the USA. But it was known that who made no mistakes made nothing. So set and achieve goals, and if you have problems in the USA, not be afraid to ask for help of police and official state departments (such as USA Embassy or Consulate, Russian Embassy in the USA).
He told some word about his experience as the Russian language interpreter and about his serves in the U.S. Embassy for two years. As far as Sakhalin, it was his first visit, but Mr. Soltow assured to come and meet the audience again.
