How time flies! For the past 4 months, Jackie Lender and Erik Romanin have held weekly discussion groups at the American Center in Kazan. Every sunday from 4pm until 5pm they met with Russian youth from all over Kazan and discussed different American holidays celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
They also talked about American youth culture, for example taking SAT's(the American version of ЕГЭ) the High-school experience, and popular films and music. Often floating from topic to topic while sharing delicious cookies, torts, and other sweets they found many similarities between Russian and American youth.
Sadly, Jackie Lender had to return to America on the 21st of December and already misses our weekly groups.
"We loved our Sunday meetings and hope everyone was able to learn as much from them as we did!" says Erik & Jackie.
Now the discussions are being led by Rhys Leahy and Erik Romanin. The meetings will be holded every Sunday from 1:00-2:00. Join us!
