18.01.2012 | Reading Modern America
On January 18th the American Center hosted a presentation “Reading Modern America” given by Lucas Sconzo (USA) majoring in Literature. The presentation began by defining modern American literature and comparing it with such classics as Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, etc. As for the contemporary popular literature, the leading positions are sure to be occupied by “Harry Potter” series, “The Twilight Saga”, as well as a nostalgic comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes” that was written and illustrated by an American cartoonist Bill Watterson. Lucas also shared his own literary preferences with students and gave them recommendation on what to choose for pleasure reading. |
