05.10.2007 | Fulbright - Kennan Alumnus Presentation
UFA - On October, 3 Nail Usmanov, a Fulbright Kennan Alumnus made a presentation of his book at the AC. He was working in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. as well as in the archive in California to gather the information for his book “The Mission of Colonel Bell”. The topic he studies is the only one that links the Republic of Bashkortostan and the USA, i.e. the functioning of the American Relief Administration during the years of famine of 1921-1923. He gave a short description of the situation in Russia, told us about the way ARA worked, enumerated the places to which the food and medicines were delivered, gave the names of the Americans who came to Russia, and told us how many people were saved as a result.
