The opening of the II Interuniversity Scientific and Practical Students Conference “New technologies in teaching foreign languages” took place in the Conference Hall of Omsk State Scientific Library named after A.S. Pushkin on April 25, 2008 at 10 am. The Conference was held by AC in Omsk within the framework of mutual activity of Omsk State University named after F.M. Dostoevsky, Omsk State Scientific Library named after A.S. Pushkin, OMSKELTA (Omsk English Language Teachers Association) – English teachers of Omsk city Establishments of higher vocational education.
At the official opening speeches of welcome by S.L. Timkina, Director of Institute of continuing open education of Omsk State University, Cand. Sc., O.S. Dvorzhets, Head of the Chair of foreign languages, Cand. Sc. (Pedagogics), D.V. Shadrin, Deputy Director of Omsk State Scientific Library named after A.S. Pushkin for new technologies, were presented. Proceedings of the Conference were started by the report “Information support of the teaching foreign language process” that described resources and opportunities of the sector “International Center” of Omsk State Scientific Library named after A.S. Pushkin. Irina Kipriyanovna Kryazheva, Head of the Sector of Literature in Foreign Languages, appeared as a main speaker of the report mentioned above. She provided detailed information on book and information resources at the dispose of the International Center to the audience – teachers and students. Special attention was paid to the fund of literature of American Corner.
International Center employees presented the exhibition “Information support of the teaching foreign language process”. A little more information on the literature on the methodology of teaching was given in the bibliographic lists developed for the Conference.
