The event was organized and conducted by the Center for Patent and Technical Information and the American Corner at the Dobrolubov library.

The aim of the seminar was defining the notion of a counterfeit product and a pirated product in accordance with the intellectual property rights. The problems of practicing those rights in Russia and the US experience on dealing with piracy were also discussed at the seminar.

A survey was conducted preceding the seminar in order to determine the public opinion on piracy. Victoria Podolskaya, the Alumni Coordinator, presented the results of this survey.

The students of the Arkhangelsk State Technical University’s College of Economics, Statistics and Informatics were present at the seminar, as well as the delegation of the U.S. Consulate General in St. – Petersburg, who were the honorable guests at the event. The Consul General Sheila Gwaltney in her speech stressed the topicality of this seminar.
