Visitors’ Days in the Library
In the period February 8-18, 2010 in Kamchatka regional research library there were so called “Days of open doors” for school and university students and for the citizens. AC took active part in it. Within the framework of the project AC held 13 presentations devoted to St. Valentines Day.
At the beginning there was conversation with students in order to figure out what they know about the holiday. Then there was a computer presentation thanks to which the students could enrich their knowledge about the holiday. The presentation told about the history of the holiday, the story of St. Valentine and at last about the customs and symbols of the holiday.
Then the children had an opportunity to take part game with the elements of the English language. It was suggested to them to decipher hidden texts, decode messages and gather “broken hearts”, solve crosswords and make a presents with their own hands – origami paper tulip.
After the event the children got sweet prizes and small presents.
Within the frame work of the same project there was an essay contest devoted to Valentine day as well. The theme was – “What is love”.
After “open doors” finished the winners of the contest were announced and rewarded.
