On March, 30th Tomsk AC held student conference «American Business Experience For Future Russian Managers”. Opening the conference Sergei Kirpotin, TSU Vice Rector on International Affairs, said about the importance of applying the USA management experience. During more than a century of the management science development remarkable management models of different levels were worked out, American scientists set forth a lot of great ideas. Tomsk students, while preparing for the conference, learnt about many of them. Conference hall of TSU Scientific Library hardly housed all who wanted to listen to the participants.

On November, 24th Tomsk AC inaugurateded the project «American Business Experience For Future Russian Managers”. Its aims are to inform Tomsk students about progressive American management science and practice and to improve their English language skills. Within the framework of this program different lectures on this topic will be given at Tomsk AC, feature films and documentaries about the US economy will be shown, books and electronic resources for American center will be bought. In February student conference will take place and other interesting events will be organized at AC.

This day university students and well-known Tomsk interpreters and translators talked about one of the oldest and most important professions nowadays. The program of celebrating the International Translation Day at Tomsk AC also included a contest of translation of political and fiction texts, funny competitions and language games. A presentation “My Friend, the Dictionary” was shown to Tomsk school pupils. The display of books and magazines was also prepared at Tomsk AC to this holiday.

The article devoted to long-term cooperation of the Tomsk American Center with ESL teachers was published in the conference information package of the All-Russia Research-to-Practice Conference hold by the Department of Journalism of the Moscow State University. (See Materials for Visitors). |

On International Children’s Day children drawing exhibition on books of American writers was opened in Tomsk State University Library. This exhibition closes the program “American Literature Year in Tomsk” which Tomsk American Center held last academic year using the Small Alumni Grant from the US Embassy.
