On the 24th of April AC welcomed representatives of the Association of victims of political repressions. We invited them to the event devoted to American Cuisine. Alumni of FLEX Department of State exchange program conducted presentations about American breakfast, lunch and dinner. Senior citizens learned a lot of interesting facts about everyday life of an American family, and also had chance to sample American snacks, such as peanut butter, homemade sandwiches with tuna and Subway sandwiches with ham, roast-beef and chicken. Every participant of the event received brochure with American traditional recipes; recipes were translated by us and put together specifically for this occasion. Our guests noted that during the meeting warm and welcoming atmosphere was established, and expressed great interest in the issues of everyday life in the US. They asked alumni numerous questions about their school life, host families, smoking and drug-abuse among younger population; they also inquired how FLEX-alumni preferred to spend free time during their stay in the US. In the end of the event, senior citizens expressed their gratitude for warm welcome they had received at the American Center.
