On Thursday, May 20, the American Center hosted a special event organized by the Children's Literature Department of the Library of Foreign Languages, the publishing house "Pink Giraffe" and the AMC to commemorate reading. It was the first time that small children from 12 months to 12 years old took part in a special event dedicated to children's reading in the American Center. About thirty children and twenty parents listened to a reading of Arnold Lobel's famous book "Frog & Toad Together." At the beginning, Children's Literature Department Director Olga Maeots read the book and discussed it with children. Then some extracts from the book were presented in the original English by American volunteer Katherine Wight. The special guest was Institution of Books director Alexander Gavrilov, who turned out to be a very animated reader. The presentation was accompanied by a picturesque slide show. At the end, "Pink Giraffe" organized interactive games in the form of competitions for the children and their parents. The publishing house demonstrated some of their books that were very colorful and beautifully illustrated.
