In June 2010 the Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library declared the start of bookcrossing in Arkhangelsk.

The project received financial support from non-profit corporation "Project Harmony".

One of the centres of bookcrossing in Arkhangelsk has become the American club of Pomor State University, which mainly consists of students of History Faculty, American Studies department.
It is there that the books on the American history and the US fiction began their travelling.
Starting from October 2010 active students of the History Faculty hold their own bookcrossing marathons at the university. The first bookcrossing marathon took place on 15 of October near the booth with the time-table of the History Faculty. Not only students from the History Faculty but also students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Philology and Journalism participated in bookcrossing.
The American club is planning to hold such marathones twice a month. The participants are supposed to bring their own interesting books from home libraries and "let them go". It's an exciting way of sharing your favourite books with fellow students and friends.
