The campaign “Light the smile” was organized to benefit the low income families in rural area of Irkutsk Oblast and local orphanage in Irkutsk city. It was a cloth/toy/book/fund drive. The project involved several representatives of business in Irkutsk and mostly different departments of Irkutsk State University. Students including alumni put colorful boxes at their Universities and Departments and made arrangements with the Faculty and administrative staff. This way we have gathered a great amount of different things. On November 29 to 30 we were putting all the boxes together at Siberian-American School of Management. On November 30 several boxes were transported to the Orphanage #1 in Irkutsk and the rest were transported mostly with the help of Irkutsk City Administration to the village Gorokhovo, which is about 100 km from Irkutsk city.
In December we are planning to organize a New Year celebration for children in Gorokhovo. Raised funds will be used on the purchase of New Year presents. 20 including all the participating students and other organizers, among them, Head of NGO “Bereginya”, Members of Women Council of Irkutsk Oblast.
