29.01.2011 | Children's Club - First Ever Meeting

On January 29th the American Center began a new program, Children's Club! Approximately 50 children attended - along with their parents and siblings. In a joyful atmosphere the 50 children attended - along with their teachers, parents and siblings. In a joyful atmosphere the children listened to and practiced English through a variety of readings and games. The club was led by a wonderful group of volunteers, including American Center staff Kore Gleason, Irina Chernenkaya and Ksenia Mukhanova.

The club began with a group activity of learning the fun different sounds animals make in English and Russian, and the Center was soon filled with children happily mimicking animals. Then they listened to and participated in an entertaining reading of "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs," which offered a humorous version of the classic tale - from the Wolf's point of view. Afterward, the children wrote letters to the Wolf with their advice. The club volunteers also led other fun and informative group-bonding activities, such as "Led by Nose" and singing "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes."

It was a fun-filled and happy meeting and we are greatly looking forward to seeing everyone again next month!
