On February 14th, 2011 Saratov American Corner organized a celebration of St. Valentine’s day. The event consisted of several parts.

A historical overview of when and how Valentines originated in the US and what changes they have undergone over the centuries gave the participants insight into the twists and turns of the fascinating story of the Valentine.

The concert and festive part of the project focused on different varieties of Valentines. Through contests and games the participants learned that Valentines can indeed be created in any form – be it poetic, musical, dance, or drama; and that no matter what form the love-token, they all equally well reflect the beauty and tenderness of the sentiment expressed (respect, admiration, friendship, or love).
83 people came to Saratov American Corner on February, 14th to learn about the uniquely American customs and festivities associated with St. Valentine’s Day, develop creative thinking and express their emotions through music, poetry, dance and drama.
