21.05.2011 | Award Ceremony for the Winners of the Children's Club Сontests
On May 21'st 20 kids and their parents came to the last Children’s
Club activity of the academic year which turned out to be one of the
most magical activities that we’ve had all year!
It all started with a fantastic presentation on the history of the American Indians, their customs, and their culture. The kids got to see pictures of traditional Indian housing (wigwams) and got to attempt to pronounce some traditional Indian names - pronouncing some of those names wasn’t as easy as it at first seemed! All of the children even got to dress up as American Indians, color their faces, put feathers on their heads and give themselves their own traditional Indian names. For fun, both the parents and the children were given the difficult task of dividing fruits, vegetables, and animals into two categories: which off these are native and which of these were transplanted. Even though the task was difficult, everyone did a wonderful job. We also played a few exciting games with corn and lassos. At the end of the activity, the children who participated at the Children’s Club Logo contest were given certificates for their outstanding work. The winning bookmarks will be printed and one work, done by Anna Sadchikova, will be used as the tamplate for the Children’s Club membership card. All of the children’s work is now displayed in the Center near the reference desk.
